The Kal Pullover is a lovely sweater design based on my Kal Cardigan design from earlier this year. It has the same half brioche shoulder detailing as the cardigan, but in a pullover format. The pullover is knit top down in a drop shoulder style. It is knit flat for some neck shaping, then in the round for the shoulder increases, then knit flat for the front/back sections to create the armholes and then rejoined in the round for the body. The body is knit to desired length with a little bit of optional shaping, then a split ribbed hem. The sleeves and collar are picked up and knit in the round, with the sleeves decreasing down to the ribbed cuff. The fit of this sweater is intended to be a loose, boxy fit. It is a size inclusive design, written in 11 sizes to fit the range of 22” - 66” bust. The sweater is meant to have 4-8 inches of positive ease, with the finished sweater bust circumference ranging from 30”-70” (every 4” bust size).

NOTE: the neckline was modified to prevent some bunching experienced during the original round of testing, and a second test round was completed to test the updated neckline construction. Some project photos may show the original version.

Sizes offered:
30(34, 38, 42)46, 50, 54{58, 62, 66, 70}
Sizes 66 and 70 are untested. If you are interested in knitting these sizes and providing feedback to me, I would reimburse your pattern purchase and gift an additional pattern upon completion of the pattern and receipt of feedback.

To fit an actual bust of:
22-26(26-30, 30-34, 34-38)38-42, 42-46, 46-50{50-54, 54-548, 58-62, 62-66}

Note: The sizes reflect the FINISHED bust measurements in inches of the sweater, and listed below the sizes you can see the actual bust range for each size. The sweater is designed for 4-8 inches of positive ease, with the lower end of the bust range giving 8 inches positive ease, and the higher end of the bust range giving 4 inches positive ease. If you are in between sizes, size down if you prefer a snugger fit, or up if you prefer a looser fit. I knit size 42” for a 36” bust with about 6 inches of positive ease.

Yarn recommended:
Any worsted weight yarn to match gauge. (You could also hold DK + lace held together)

My first sample is knit using Treehouse Knits Redwood Worsted (218 yds/100g) in the colourway Winter Mint. My second sample is knit using Treehouse Knits Dove DK (246 yds/100g) held with Truffula Cashmere (316 yds/100g) in the colourway Harvest Moon.

Knitpicks Swish Worsted is a great budget friendly alternative yarn.

Yardage recommended:
685(770, 865, 960){1100, 1240, 1420}{1580, 1755, 1910, 2050}
If you choose to use DK and suri held together in place of a worsted, use the above worsted estimate for EACH of your DK and suri yarns.
Note: Yardage is an approximation and is calculated using the recommended lengths from the pattern. Yardage can vary depending on your gauge and knitting, so I always recommend buying extra in case you require more yardage for adding length, etc.

Needles recommended:
5 mm / US 8 / UK 6 for body
4.5 mm / US 7 / UK 7 for ribbing

I recommend using a set of interchangeable needles, or a pair of circulars that match the circumference of your bust as well as a 16” or 32”+ for magic loop for the sleeves.

Note: You may need other size needles to meet gauge

Gauge:
4” x 4” = 18 sts x 24 rows
1” x 1” = 4.5 sts x 6 rows
Gauge should be knit in stockinette, worked in the round, and blocked using the same method you plan to use for the actual sweater (ex. steam vs wet). You may want to also swatch flat as some portions of the sweater are knit flat, especially if you know your tension varies between flat and in the round knitting.

Note: If your stitch count is correct for gauge, but row count is not, use this needle size but remember you may need to adjust your length
